The clean white shot is your own photograph, cut out and, for a flat thing like a rug, straightened. It is a real picture of the real item, so it meets the plain background rules. A generated scene is a different thing and belongs in the secondary gallery slots. Two things to know before you publish. Etsy expects the first image of a listing to show the actual item. Google Shopping asks you to declare imagery that was generated. Each channel writes its own policy and they change, so check the one you sell on.

A blurry, badly lit or heavily cropped source photo produces a blurry, badly lit result. Very small text and engraved lettering on a product can soften. Highly reflective chrome and mirrored surfaces are the hardest case. Run one of your difficult pieces on the free credits and judge it yourself before buying.

It does that as one of the shots, but the point is the rest: rooms, on-body frames and macro detail that a background remover cannot produce.

Rules differ by country and by platform, and they are moving. Our own position is simple: the product in the frame is your real product, and the room around it is a set, the same as any styled studio shot. Follow whatever your market requires.

Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Credits already spent on generated photos cannot, which is why every account starts with free ones.
